The Story of You
Has it ever been explained to you
Why you love the way you do?
In matters of the heart, who can say
How we seem to find our way?
Without a map or a chart to show,
Who tells your heart where to go?
Who made this wind that moves the trees?
Who made this ocean so blue?
Who put these stars in a summer’s eve,
To shine their light on you?
Whoever made them, well surely its true -
They wrote the story of You.
So know the wonder of all the things you feel,
And see how the mystery in everything reveals
That you are something beautiful
A story to be told;
For who you are and all you are
Was made by love…
And only love…
Can tell the story of You.
To follow love at any cost,
The road is long, but never lost;
This one came to love a man,
And this one took a woman’s hand;
It makes no difference, whomever you choose,
That’s just the story of You.
For who made this child with the skin so fair?
Who gave this other such curly hair?
And who blessed this one with eyes of green?
Who built this one tall and lean?
Whoever made them, counts them each by name,
And loves these children the same.
So know the wonder of all the things you feel,
And see how the mystery in everything reveals
That you are something beautiful
A story to be told;
For who you are and all you are
Was made by love…
And only love…
Can tell the story of You.
And some will find it hard to understand
A person so different from them;
But if love is simple and love is kind,
Let it move these hearts….
And change these minds.
Don’t be discouraged by the things you’ve heard,
A name can never hurt you;
You can’t be described with an unkind word
Or a claim that isn’t true;
For only the name that you choose to answer to…
Can tell the story of You.
So know the wonder of all the things you feel,
And see how the mystery in everything reveals
That you are something beautiful
A story to be told;
For who you are and all you are
Was made by love…
And only love…
Can tell the story of You.
